Enrolling in the electric discount rate just got easier.
National Grid is working with CLEAResult on a new and simplified process that allows customers to self-verify their income eligibility to enroll in the electric discount rate program. Enrolling in this program can save you 32% on your monthly electric bill.
Your household income must meet the program eligibility requirements to qualify:
- You are a residential customer
- Your National Grid utility account is in your name
- You must live at the address to which the discount applies
- No one other than your spouse can claim you as a dependent on their tax return
- Your meter cannot be shared with another residence
- You must meet the income guidelines shown below and be able to verify all reported income

You are eligible for the electric discount rate if you currently receive assistance from one of the following programs below:
- Commonwealth Care Plan Types 1, 2, or 3A*
- Emergency Aid to Elders, Disabled, and Children (EAEDC)*
- Fuel Assistance / Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)*
- SNAP (Food Stamps)*
- Health Safety Net Plan — Primary or Secondary (Not Partial)*
- Head Start*
- MassHealth — Basic or Standard (Medicaid)*
- Public Housing*
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)*
- Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC)*
- Veterans' Service Benefits*
- Veterans DIC — Surviving Parent or Spouse (Chapter 115)*
- Veterans Non-Service-Connected Disability Pension*
- Women, Infants and Children (WIC)*
*Program eligibility is based on household income and size. The program is limited to the first 250 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. You may be asked to verify proof of eligibility during the two-year program period. Program terms and conditions may change.
